How to Forward Gmail to Another Account

The following guide will provide instructions for automatically forwarding emails that arrive in your GWMail inbox and send them to another account of your choosing. This is useful, for example, in cases where a person is both a Student and Employee and wishes to only manage one GWmail Inbox, instead of each individually.

  1. From your web browser log into your GWmail account (The one you wish to forward emails FROM)

  2. In the upper right of your Inbox, click the Settings gear button and then Settings from the menu.

  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab along the top.

  4. From the "Forwarding" section, click Add a forwarding address.

  5. Enter the email address you wish to forward messages to. Please note, if you are sending to another GWMail account that you own, you will need to enter the full email routing address. Student and Alumni accounts are designated YourNetID@gwmail.gwu.edu, Employee accounts are designated YourNetID@email.gwu.edu

  6. Click Next and then Proceed then lastly OK.

  7. A verification message will be sent to the address you added for forwarding. Click the verification link in that email.

  8. Go back to the settings page for the Gmail account you want to forward messages FROM, and refresh the page.

  9. Select "Forward a copy of incoming mail to".

  10. Choose your preferred option of what you want to happen with the copy of your emails.

  11. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
